BALA CYNWYD, PA - - Artur Kirsh will take over the salon at Saks Fifth Avenue as of May 1, 2022.

The salon will be called Artur Kirsh Salon.

Kirsh will continue to service clients at the Salon at the Rittenhouse Hotel as well as in both Boca Raton Florida and New York City.

“It was a great opportunity for me. It is an honor to align my salon with the prestige and stellar reputation of Saks Fifth Avenue. This location allows my clients the choice of the city or the suburbs and it allows me to continue to grow and expand my client base,” he said. “The salon is a beautiful location on the third floor of Saks Fifth Avenue and it is optimal for hosting private events as well as for servicing bridal parties or even just small groups who are looking for a boutique salon experience,” he added.

Known for his unique vision and expert technique in the realm of cut and color, Kirsh has achieved the stature of one of the Nation’s premier professionals, earning a reputation as the preferred stylist among women of influence and taste including media personalities, celebrities, and fashion models. Kirsh specializes in coloring and a style called “dry cutting,”, and is well known in the fashion circle. He is the go-to stylist for models and local celebrities. Over the years, he has styled luminaries who range from local and national news reporters from all major networks to celebrities including New York Housewive Dorinda Medley, Betsy Johnson, Carolina Herrera, Celine Dion, Kathy Griffin, Nicole Miller, and Ken Downing. He continues to earn “Best of Philly” and “Best of Style” Magazine awards each year.

Locals and celebs (think big-names like Celine Dion, Betsy Johnson and Nicole Miller) have been trusting steward stylist Artur Kirsh and his salon at the Bellevue hotel for just under five years, which is why it came as a surprise to hear his plans to close the location last month. But, with one door closed, another one opens, and Kirsh plans on using it to get back to what he loves the most. Here, we catch up with the celebrity stylist to talk exactly what that is, as well as hair trends for 2022.

Now that you’ve closed Artur Kirsh at the Bellevue Hotel, what’s next?

For now, I decided to take time off from being an owner and do what I love the most, which is to work behind the chair with my clients to do hair. And I am working for Joel Warren in New York City, Bala Cynwyd and Boca Raton, Florida—they’re all at Saks Fifth Avenue. And in the city, I chose Rittenhouse Hotel Salon & Spa, which is (located in) my favorite neighborhood in Philadelphia.

What are some projected hair trends for 2022?

The diversity goes beyond. As long as it’s healthy, shiny, beautiful hair, it can go from short to long, and definitely bangs are in for the fall and lots of layers for the spring coming up. And any length goes really well. I see lots of different colors and just go with the season. And especially personalities. I’m very big into people’s personalities, because as long as they’re excited about the look that they’re going for, it’s going to work quite well for them. You never want to do something that is not them.

What about color?

Some of the people that were doing their own hair at home…I have to do a lot of fixing. But overall, I do a lot of painting. I paint different colors into the hair so it looks more natural. A lot of things are very natural. And I think beauty is in, so a lot of beautiful hair. Natural, beautiful hair—even the texture of the hair…you know, people want to style it more naturally.

What are you excited to say goodbye to in the new year?

Too much hairspray. A little hairspray I love, but hair should be touchable.

Artur Kirsh will close his namesake salon at The Bellevue in Center City in November 2021 but will continue to service his Center City clients at the Rittenhouse Hotel Salon and Spa as well as at The Salon Project at Saks Fifth Avenue in Bala Cynwyd and Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City, and Boca Raton.

“It was time for me to get back to focusing on what I really enjoy and that is doing hair. While I have enjoyed success as a salon owner, my true passion is working with my clients and by closing The Bellevue location, I will have more time to focus on clients both in Philadelphia, the suburbs, New York City, and Florida,” he said. Kirsh said beginning in December he will be on-location at the Rittenhouse  Hotel Salon and Spa every Friday and every other Saturday and will expand his hours on-site at Saks Fifth Avenue in Bala Cynwyd.

He has styled the supermodels of New York and Milan’s Fashion Weeks, the Chanel Trunk Show, Christian Louboutin Fashion Show at Neiman Marcus, the Carmen Marc Valvo Fashion Show, and the Derek Lam Fashion Show. He continues to earn “Best of Philly” and “Best of Style” Magazine awards each year.

Kirsh began his journey into the world of styling and cosmetology at the age of sixteen. He moved to New York in the mid-1990s, where he quickly made a name for himself as a promising young talent on the rise. After gaining experience at a Manhattan studio, Artur moved to Philadelphia. Kirsh opened The Studio CL in Philadelphia in 2003 and after 14 years in Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia, The Studio CL closed its doors to re-imagine itself as  Artur Kirsh Salon in Manayunk, Philadelphia. He opened his location at The Bellevue in 2017.

Kirsh began to split his time between Artur Kirsh Salon at the Bellevue in Philadelphia and celebrity stylist Joel Warren’s salons at Saks Fifth Avenue in Manhattan and Boca Raton. In 2020 he opened The Salon Project at Saks with Warren. At The Salon Project, customers can have multiple treatments with the same stylist from cut to color to Keratin treatments to extensions, eliminating the need to have contact with multiple stylists during one visit, making it convenient for the guest.
